The Blind Hole Problem

The 7th hole on the Sunshine Coast’s Headland Golf Club is renowned for being blind.

The longest hole on the course has players aiming to land a long drive atop the hill, followed by a second aimed at the right side of the fairway which will open up for an approach to the green. Anything short from the top of the hill leaves players hitting blind for the second. Leading players enter the danger zone once they drop over the hill and remain obscured for roughly 150m before the green.

The Solution

The Blind Shot solution comprises two camera stations, each with two cameras monitoring the large danger zone which is the full width of the fairway. Activity in the danger zone triggers the warning light on the Blind Shot bollard which is visible to all approaching players. This reduced the risk to obscured players and tightened the gap between groups.
